Happy New Year of 2007 & 2008 Reunion annoucement!

Dear Alumni,
Happy New Year. This is Siong Chuan Lee, M.D. (Medicine, class of 1971) from San Francisco, California. I am e-mailing you because we are organizing the first reunion of the overseas Chinese graduates from Taipei Medical College (Taipei Medical University), bringing us together from around the world. It is scheduled for July 5th 2008 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It has been almost 50 years since Taipei Medical College was established. Since then, more than 1,000 overseas Chinese students have graduated from the school. Unfortunately, we have not had a formal alumni association or reunion to bring together the graduates. In the last few years, I have had the opportunity to discuss this matter with some of the alumni in Taipei, the United States and Malaysia. We all felt that it’s about time for us to get together because many of us have not seen each other for 10 to 30 years. This is especially true for the overseas Chinese graduates because we live and work in different countries.
Since Malaysia has the largest number of alumni, we have decided to hold the first reunion in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 5th 2008 (Saturday). This will hopefully be followed by reunions in different places such as Taipei and Hong Kong. I have brought this idea to our principal, Professor Hsu and he has highly applauded this proposal and promised to support it. He has instructed his secretary to compile this mailing list of overseas students.
I am therefore sending this e-mail to you even though we may not have ever met. But we do share one thing in common: We graduated from this marvelous medical school that we are all proud of, TMU and the school that taught us the necessary skills and paved the way for our present, successful careers. We owe so much to this school, and this event would be a great opportunity for us to repay and honor our school.
My dear friends, as soon as you receive this e-mail, please spread the news or forward this e-mail to your classmates or any overseas Chinese graduates from TMU. Please save this date and make every effort you can to attend and make this first reunion a successful one. Attached please find the alumni you can contact or sign up in your nearest location.
